Window film is a very thin material that requires handling with care. Creases and folding must be avoided and application must be carried out in a draught and dust free area. Only apply the film to smooth glass.

Follow the step-by-step instructions below OR watch the ‘Plain Film’ video to see the application being performed…or both!

You will need:

  • 1 spray bottle filled with water and 2 drops of dishwashing detergent
  • Credit card wrapped in a dust free cloth
  • Squeegee if applying to a large area
  • Stanley knife to trim if necessary

Instructions for applying window film:

  1. Before applying Frost & Co Window Film, thoroughly clean the glass. Remove any spots of dried paint and wash with clean soapy water. Any dirt or lint on the glass will be trapped under the film and look unsightly. Do not use window cleaning spray, as it can damage the film.
  2. Spray the glass liberally with the water/detergent mix.
  3. Place your design on a flat surface. Carefully peel off the backing paper by pulling it flat back on itself.
  4. Spray the exposed surface of the film with water/detergent. Lightly spray your hands to stop the film sticking to them.
  5. Carefully pick up the laminate, and slide into position on your glass. Keep the film smooth. It will continue to move, providing the glass is wet. Reapply water if necessary.
  6. Once in place push out the bubbles with the credit card wrapped in a soft cloth. Push from the centre out.
  7. If you are doing a large area, spray the film with the water and use a squeegee. The water will allow the squeegee to glide over the film.
  8. Wipe away any excess water. There may be some water marks left on the film, however this will dry/evaporate over time.
  9. To trim if required: Sandwich the blade between the credit card and edge of frame. Run the Stanley knife down the edge using the credit card to push it against the frame.
  10. To remove bubbles gently pop with a pin and rub.
  11. To remove white crease marks, run the flame of a lighter over the film and rub with finger.

To clean the film after installation, Mild soapy water, a squeegee and soft cloth. Avoid using an abrasive material, as it will scratch the film.

Instructions for applying window film:

  1. Before applying Frost & Co Window Film, you must thoroughly clean the glass to be used. Firstly remove any spots of dried paint etc, and then wash with clean, soapy water. Any dirt or lint on the glass will be trapped under the film and look unsightly. Do not use window cleaning spray, as it can damage the film.
  2. Your film will come sandwiched between a backing paper which is thicker and application paper which is more like masking tape. This is to ensure the design does not skew when applying it to your window.
  3. Place your design on a flat surface. Begin by peeling off the thicker backing paper. Peel the paper flat back against itself. Do it very slowly and make sure the design stays stuck to the Application Paper.
  4. Liberally spray the glass and exposed surface of the film. Lightly spray your hands to stop the film sticking to them. The solution you made will help slide it perfectly into position.
  5. Carefully pick up the laminate, ensuring the sticky side is facing away from you and slide into position on your glass. Keep the film straight and do not allow it to curl up on itself or wrinkle to avoid creasing. It will continue to move, providing the glass is wet.
  6. Carefully smooth the cloth and card over the surface of the laminate from the centre outwards. Make sure all the bubbles are out of the film. Keep going over the film, check and re-check that the bubbles are out.
  7. Wipe away any excess water. While there is water under the film, it will move.
  8. Once the film is in the correct position, leave it to dry overnight or a minimum of 5 hours.
  9. Spray the application paper with water and carefully remove making sure that all the design is stuck to the window. This is best done, by peeling the paper flat back against the glass.
  10. There may be some water marks left on the film, however this will dry/evaporate over time.
  11. If required trim around the edges of the frame with a Stanley knife.
  12. To remove bubbles – simply pop them with a pin and rub.
  13. If you have a white crease mark, gently wave the flame of a cigarette lighter near the film and rub.

To clean the film after installation, Mild soapy water, a squeegee and soft cloth. Avoid using an abrasive material, as it will scratch the film.
